Fall Play

November 9-11, 2023

Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons.

Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! But when practical and young Alice Sycamore becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby, the Vanderhof/Sycamore family  must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues when the Kirbys arrive at the wrong time and, despite the best laid plans, see Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory.

Will these families come together despite their differences? Can love true love truly conquer all? You Can’t Take It With You is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy.

Spring Musical

May 9-12, 2024

Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten.  Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”.

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each given their own special moment in the show to shine.  Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences… in the beginning of the first act!  It’s become clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical,” so don’t miss your chance to see this history-twisting tale on our stage.

Synopsis

When a dead body is found inside a steamer trunk on the back of a “U-Move-It” rental truck, Detectives Goodman and Badham are called in to investigate. However, it quickly becomes apparent that tracking down the killer won’t be as easy as finding the last person who rented the truck. The trunk has been rented and transported to many cities by a variety of mysterious characters, including Iggy the ‘bookie’ bartender, Madame DuBois, the eccentric washed-up film star, and Nick Niagra and Edie Buffet, the talented lounge act.

As the investigation heats up, Federal Agents Muledeer and Sullen join the hunt for the trunk and its contents. But the more they dig, the more questions arise. Could one of the shady characters be responsible for the murder, or is there something even more sinister at play? Agent Muledeer suspects a potential “alien” abduction and murder with a major government cover-up involved.
Which suspect could we… well, suspect?

As the detectives and agents work to unravel the mystery, they encounter a variety of eccentric characters and hilarious situations that keep them guessing until the very end. Will they be able to solve the case and bring the killer to justice, or will the trunk on the truck remain a mystery forever?
